Afflicted to Achieving: Mary's Story

Growing up, Mary's home was full--she was the fifth child out of seven born to her mom and dad, and her mom was one of her father's three wives. Though chaotic and full, her home life didn't stop her from pursuing her dreams.

Mary has always been an achiever. After finishing her A-levels, Mary filled her schedule, enrolling at the YMCA for a Tourism and Hotel Management course and working part time at a hotel. After graduation, she got married to her boyfriend of two years. After a blissful year of marriage, they welcomed their daughter Gladys into the world.

She returned to Jinja in June of 2017, and she began working at a restaurant in town. The job required her to work 7 days a week for long hours. She became exhausted and frustrated that she was missing out on watching her baby girl grow up, so she began looking for other opportunities. In 2022, Mary found Heal Ministries. We were overjoyed to hire her as our receptionist. She is an excellent addition to our team, welcoming everyone who enters the gates of the James Place.

Since she works with Heal, Mary enrolled Gladys in our preschool, and she is now in Primary Two. Mary and her husband are also looking forward to meeting Gladys's new sibling soon! Through Heal Ministries, Mary has been empowered to support her family--her life is changed and her hope is renewed as a result of Heal Ministries!

Stories like Mary's happen because of generous supporters like you. Thank you for your unwavering support of Heal Ministries and mothers like Mary!
