Our Mission
Heal Ministries builds relationships and implements Christ-centered programs addressing the spiritual, emotional and physical well-being of abandoned women and children.
We desire for vulnerable families to become holistically transformed and empowered to stay together and live sustainably within their communities.
Our Vision
For EVERY person that passes through our gates to learn about Christ, sustainability, and FAMILY PRESERVATION. We believe every family can have a story of success no matter what obstacles they face. We believe success is measured by LOVE.
Why Uganda?
Uganda has an extremely high number of orphans, widows, and abandoned women. Additionally, it is ranked in the top 15 poorest countries in the world. The economy is underdeveloped and extremely fragile due to recent civil wars that caused deaths, violence, and suffering for the family unit. The James Place provides assistance with family preservation and sustainability to break the cycle.
Our Programs
CHILDCARE AND EDUCATION
The purpose of the childcare department is for abandoned women and widows to be able to work or attend school full time and to provide a safe place of play, nutrition, and education for their children.
KIDS CLUB
The purpose of KIDS Club is to encourage children to have the freedom to act age-appropriate through free play, song and dance for three hours on Saturday afternoon.
SUSTAINABILITY INITIATIVE
We provide women with Sewing classes, Artisan Programs, and Business courses. These skill sets will empower the women to become sustainable, equipping them to provide school fees, rent, and groceries for their families.
FARMING GOD’S WAY
The purpose of Farming God’s Way is to equip farmers with a more sustainable way of agriculture.
BIBLE STUDY
The purpose of the Bible studies at the James Place are to allow the women to have a safe environment where they can find true hope and unconditional love.
Our story
In 2007, Tina Weir founded Heal Ministries based on JAMES 1:27. Tina understands what it is like to be abandoned with two small children. She understands the grief and pain of a single mom. She also understands how blessed she has been with family and friends, raised in a country of plenty. She began to see that most abandoned women in the world are not as fortunate. Her personal story is one of grief, healing and faith that God has used to impact lives across the globe. Before Tina felt the Lord call Heal to focus in Uganda in 2011, she led teams through Central America, Africa, and several inner cities in the U.S.
What we believe
We want to give women and children a safe environment where they can find true hope and unconditional love in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Our hope is that every woman will strengthen her relationship with Jesus and to create relationships with other women built on trust and love. Teaching relationally creates an environment for different tribes to become interdependent on one another, loving one another as we are all called to do.
