Reflections from Kirsten Williams and Katie Briegel
We had the honor to spend two and a half weeks working with HEAL Ministries at the James Place. During that time, it was extremely evident that God is using HEAL Ministries to grow his kingdom. It's incredible to see firsthand how HEAL has provided for so many women and children. At the James Place, children are given a safe and nurturing environment to attend childcare, preschool, and Kids Club. Not only are they receiving an education, but they are witnessing the love of Christ through the HEAL's amazing staff. Whether it's the children playing on the swing set, listening to bible stories in the tree house, singing songs at Kids Club, or learning in the preschool classroom, the staff at HEAL is continually encouraging and loving each child who come through the gates at the James Place.
God is truly using Tina and Trey as vessels to show and spread the truth of His love in Jinja. HEAL ministries provides Bible studies, business, leadership, sewing, English, and rug making classes to women in their program. Through these opportunities, women are provided with a skill set to help them provide for their familes. More importantly, the women are adopted into a loving community that gives them a sense of belonging. Tina's unconditional love is truly something that can only come from the Lord. We were able to witness her relentless encouragement, dedication, and love for the women and their families. Trey is a male mentor and role model that is rare in Uganda, and his leadership and love is evident to all. Above all, HEAL ministries has given the women and children a sense of belonging, family, confidence, and hope. We are truly grateful for the time we were able to spend at the James Place. Our hearts will forever have a special place for HEAL ministries and the James Place.
