A Message from our Director of Missions - We are back in the field!
Under the tree in Masese is where the HEAL bible studies began. As I re-joined the ladies this week, under the tree, I was reminded of how far God has brought this ministry in the last two years. Running up to the car full of excitement, the children were YELLING - hallelujah, oh, oh, oh Jesus loves me. This is the song they have learned to love with all the HEAL teams.
The women, under the tree, could not wait to tell me about the past couple of months that we have been apart. They shared how excited they were that they began memorizing their index cards with scripture on them. How they continued meeting once a week and even continued meeting with their small groups. How they prayed and prayed and prayed for my health and for God's plans to prevail.
They could not wait to have our bible study. We talked about faith and love and hope. The ladies sitting under the tree laughing and singing and praying are craving a change. They crave the Word of God. They crave a changed life. They are talented in many ways and are eager to glorify God in all that they do.
They have tasted the love of God and they want more. They have seen His goodness through Word. Their faith has strengthened and they continue to crave more. God has brought about this change. Not me, not the teams, not any one person, just God. He gets the glory for truly changing hearts. He alone gives me new meaning today to the HEAL Ministries slogan - changing the world one heart at a time. God is in the business of changing hearts. He is in the business of changing generations, with women loving each other when it wasn't possible even a year ago. The fortunate ones that are privileged to serve are just tools in the workshop.
A spark of love and hope has started and now the next phase is here to deepen spiritually, train leaders and teach sustainability. The women are learning to stay with their babies, to love one another and to help each other. They continue to crave to learn. They crave God's word and they crave HOPE.
Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation, now that you have tasted that the Lord is good. - 1 Peter 2:2
