We left South Africa, joyful, tired and sad. We made friends. It is always so amazing to me how intentional God is at putting us in the exact location at the exact moment that He intended. South Africa will always be with us and now.....Uganda. Uganda is just as easy to fall in love with. We were greeted at the airport and made out 6 hour flight and 3 hour drive into the village with no problems.

We are asking for prayers for our health......some have had a day or two of cold like symptoms and some with stomach cramps....but nothing serious. We are staying in a bunk house at the Canaan Children's Home and for many, it is a first experience sleeping in nets........our team noticed today when touring the facilities that some children do not have nets due to a fire this last year and we decided that we are purchasing them before we leave. Malaria is the number one killer in Uganda and it is so easy to prevent.
Today is a learning day - we are touring the Jinja area and bonding with the children. These children have come from EXTREME conditions: rape, child soldiers, child slaves used for sex and work, etc. I am so thankful that the pastor here that started this ministry had a vision for saving the next generation of Uganda. The children take about 2 years to adjust after coming into the home but the light that shines in their eyes during the transformation is amazing. We played with the children today, helped during school hours and mainly, just loved on them. We see Jesus in their eyes and we see the actions of Christ through the staff. The love that it took to rescue these children is incredible. It reminds our team of how Jesus rescued us all and we pray that we can continue to be ambassadors for Christ!
